PENG SHAO, ABOGADO 📧

Mr. Shao specializes in consumer protection and complex financial litigation, including class actions and mass arbitrations aimed at protecting the average consumer against corporate misconduct. He leverages his robust legal experience and technical insight to deliver personalized and tenacious advocacy for R23’s clients.

Peng trabajó anteriormente en un bufete nacional con sede en la costa este, especializado en litigios financieros de consumo, en representación de diversas empresas de la lista Fortune 50 y bancos de primer orden. Antes de su etapa en BigLaw, Peng ejerció en un bufete líder en demandas colectivas en San Francisco, donde adquirió experiencia en litigios complejos en nombre de los demandantes en materia de protección del consumidor, antimonopolio, servicios financieros, protección de los inversores contra el fraude bursátil y violaciones de los derechos civiles colectivos. Peng también ha colaborado con entidades gubernamentales como la SEC en investigaciones de fraude bursátil y la CFPB.

JARED V. WALDER, ESQ. 📧

Mr. Walder is a seasoned class-action litigator with extensive experience representing consumers in complex litigation across the United States. He brings over a decade of civil litigation expertise to R23 Law, with a focus on complex consumer disputes. Mr. Walder leverages his deep litigation background to advocate for clients who have been harmed by fraud, unfair practices, or corporate misconduct.

Previous to joining R23 Law, Mr. Walder served as a senior litigator at a leading plaintiff’s class-action firm, where he led employment class actions and supervised junior attorneys. He also has extensive experience in legal malpractice and high-stakes business litigation matters—spanning commercial disputes, securities, intellectual property, real estate, and consumer protection matters in both state and federal courts. Jared also clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge William I. Arbuckle III in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Walder holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he graduated at the top of his class and earned the Scholastic Excellence Award. He also earned a Master’s in Economics from the University of Michigan, and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from University of California San Diego with Department and Provost’s Honors. Before law school, he worked as a software engineer designing integrated operations databases and developing advanced algorithms.

Mr. Walder is based in R23 Law’s Los Angeles office. Outside the courtroom, he enjoys discussing economics, exploring L.A.’s food scene, and relaxing with his family.

MAXWELL A. CALEHUFF III, ESQ. 📧

Mr. Calehuff focuses his practice on complex class-based litigation and consumer protection matters. As a fully trained computer engineer and data scientist, Mr. Calehuff infuses his technical expertise with an extensive litigation background to deliver for his clients.

Before joining R23 Law, Mr. Calehuff worked at a national biglaw firm advising major corporations. His legal expertise spans a variety of practice areas across multiple industries – including consumer finance, contractual disputes, product liability, employment, tenant protection, healthcare disputes, and catastrophic injury.

Mr. Calehuff is a graduate from UC Santa Barbra with a degree in economics, and earned his Juris Doctorate from UC Davis. He also studied political science abroad at Frei Universität in Berlin, and European business law at University College Dublin. Mr. Calehuff also proudly holds a Master’s in Data Science from University of San Francisco.

Mr. Calehuff is a silicon valley native, and sits in R23 Law’s San Francisco office. He is also a life-long skier, and spends his free time traveling the world.

MATTHEW L. COLLINS, ESQ. 📧

Mattew L. Collins, a native of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, focuses his practice on consumer related litigation counseling while maintaining a full-service practice serving clients across a diverse spectrum of industries. Although Mr. Collins is not licensed to practice law in California – and do not provide direct legal services to R23 Law’s California clients – he brings a decade of invaluable legal experience, insight, and nation-wide strategic savvy to R23 Law’s Legal Team from his office in Kentucky.

Mr. Collins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Kentucky, and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law. His extensive legal experience spans all aspects of civil litigation, catastrophic personal injury, and serving as outside general counsel to several corporations across the bluegrass state.

Mr. Collins is an avid fly fisherman, traveler, and lifelong soccer player. Outside of work, he enjoys fly fishing in the streams of Montana and Idaho, fine dining, and traveling the globe with his wife. He is also an avid supporter of the North London football club Tottenham Hotspur.

MICHAEL MCSHANE, MBA. 📧

Michael McShane is the Outside Director of Marketing at R23 Law. As an integral part of R23 Law’s inception and growth, he helps to manages the firm’s marketing strategies and business-development vendor relations. Hailing from a family of lawyers back in his homeland of Ireland, Mr. McShane discovered that his true talents lie in marketing and strategy upon immigrating to the United States. Known for his strategic approach, Michael has a proven ability to craft data-driven marketing initiatives that deliver measurable results - thus making him an integral part of R23 Law’s continued growth and strategic development.

Mr. McShane earned his Masters of Business Administration in Marketing Strategy from San Diego State University, and a BA in Marketing/Media from Liverpool John Moores University. He also brings a wealth of industry experience, including leading high-impact campaigns for various national luxury, entertainment, and hospitality brands.

Outside of work, Mr. McShane is a life-long skier of the Swiss Alps; dedicated family man (two french bulldog puppies and a surgeon wife), and is proud to be one of the most rabid supporters for his football club in the Stretford End of Salford.

ELLYSHAH GIANA LA TORRE 📧

Ellyshah «Elly» Giana La Torre es la directora de Administración Jurídica de R23 Law. A pesar de su juventud, la Sra. La Torre cuenta con una amplia experiencia en gestión de clientes, gestión administrativa y operaciones en diversos sectores, entre ellos el jurídico, el hipotecario/crediticio y el inmobiliario.

La Sra. La Torre es licenciada en Lingüística Inglesa y habla con fluidez tanto inglés como tagalo. También es una experta mixóloga y música, y disfruta dedicando su tiempo libre a actuar en locales musicales de la zona, viajar y cuidar de su familia (incluidos sus tres perros: dos dachshunds y un husky).
