Below is an example of a dispute letter a consumer can send to credit reporting agencies like TransUnion, Experian, Equifax, or any other similar entity.

This letter is designed to challenge and correct inaccurate information on a consumer’s credit report. Be sure to include as much relevant information and supporting documentation as possible to substantiate your claim.

To ensure you can track your dispute and its enclosures, send it via certified mail. This provides a tracking number as proof of receipt by the credit reporting agency. Here are the addresses for the major credit reporting agencies:
